How does the design process work?
The design process starts with an initial meeting between you and one of our sales reps. At this meeting we discuss with you what it is you are looking for, and get a general feel for your business and what direction we want to go in for the site. We discuss colors, layout, sections, etc.

We bring this information back to a member of the design team and they develop a proof. This proof is emailed, faxed or delivered to you. If you like the proof, you approve it and we start on the production on your site. If there is something you would like to change, you let us know and we make the necessary changes until you are satisfied.

Once you approve the proof we will start programming your website. At this point we will gather all the necessary text, images and other content for your site from you. We will be in contact with you throughout the programming process and update you as we progress.

When the site is complete, we will give you the temporary link where you can browse the entire site and look it over for any typos or changes you would like to make.

When you are done looking the site over, we will make it live to the world at your specified website address.

What is a "proof"?
A proof is a way of ensuring that a website, business card, brochure, etc. is exactly how you want. It is to ensure that the colors are correct, the layout is correct, and everything is spelt correctly. Typically, we will produce a proof which will be sent to you online or printed on paper which can be delivered to you in person.

Do I need maintenance?
A good website doesn't stop at the design. It needs monthly, weekly, or even daily updates to keep the content interesting and give your visitors a reason to come back. The most common mistake made by business owners with websites is getting a great website made, and never updating it. If someone goes to your site two or three times and does not see any changes made, they may never come back. Once they have your address and phone number in their records, and if you never update your site, they have no reason to visit your website again.

Do I get email with my website?

How do I get people to visit my new website?
There are a number of ways to get people to your website. The quickest and cheapest way is through search submission. We offer a search submission service, and by using it, your site gets listed in all of the most popular search engines such as Google, Lycos, MSN and many more.

There are also many other ways to get visitors to your new website. A short list includes sending out flyers or letters to your customers, posting an ad either online or in the newspaper, and many more. We offer pre-press services for newspaper ads, and printing and design services for letters, brochures, etc.

What are "hosting" & "domain registration" and why do I need them?
Hosting is the space needed to store your files on the internet. Similar to a floppy disk, hard drive, etc., hosting is where your files sit and allows people to view them. It is different than domain registration in the sense that domain registration is simply the domain (ex: www.yourname.com) that points to your files. You need BOTH a domain name AND hosting to have an active website.

Can I lay out my own business card, letterhead, etc.?
Yes, if you wish to lay out your own design that is fine with us. You can do so on either a napkin, piece of paper, or digitally. We will then take your layout and convert it into a format that is ready for the printers. You can then either get it printed through us, or go elsewhere with it.

How do I go about getting an estimate from you?
To receive an estimate, you can either call us at 1.978.207.0123 or email us at sales@northie.com. Please have ready the number of prints you would like, colors, design ideas, etc.

How long does it take for you to complete my order?
There really isn't a short answer to this question. Some jobs can be produced in minutes and some jobs may take days. Let us know when you need your job completed and we'll let you know if it can be done. We go to great lengths to meet your most stringent demands.

Why do I need to look at a proof if I've already given you everything?
We employ human beings to produce your work and, last time we checked, humans are not perfect. Your approval on the final proof is assurance that you have looked over every aspect of our work and approve it as accurate. It benefits everyone if errors are caught in the proofing process rather than after the job is completed and delivered.

Do I still need to approve a proof if I bring my work on a disk?
It may seem like a proof wouldn't be needed in this case but it really is. Output devices process digital information using a variety of processing languages. Your approval of the proof which we will provide assures that the output device used has correctly interpreted and processed the information you have provided.
